Mifa is involved in projects that are vital to the ongoing battle against coronavirus, providing components for equipment used by medical services to save patients’ lives. “We are currently working on two key projects to produce medical components,” says Mifa managing director Rob van Oene. “In the first project, our surface treatment department added an anodised layer to key sections of respirators, which are in huge demand across the world as healthcare professionals battle to keep people alive.

The order came in on Easter Friday, the parts were delivered to us on the Saturday, and the customer was able to collect them on Sunday. By that evening, the products had been assembled in Germany and were being sent by air freight to the end customer in Scotland. This was a fantastic example of our ability to provide mission-critical services, and a tremendous effort by everyone involved along the entire supply chain.”

For the second project, Mifa is also creating components used to provide the health services with the tools they need to do their job. “The second order is for an extrusion profile with surface treatment, which is part of an oxygen regulator,” Rob explains. “Again, this is mission-critical manufacturing, and it requires real commitment across the supply chain to make it work. Great work from the team, turning these projects around at such short notice, helping create components used in life-saving equipment.”
