surface coatings, by surface specialists
highlights
- Aalberts surface technologies provides customers with polymer coatings focused primarily on preventing corrosion or creating non-stick and sliding properties, and also develop innovative solutions for unique problems
- we’ve created a global network of facilities to apply the coatings, meaning we can serve international machine builders wherever they need us
- we don't just apply coatings, we look for ways to develop new applications by applying different technologies that can be connected with one another
No matter which industry they operate in, our customers demand coatings that are capable of surviving an array of challenging conditions, while still guaranteeing that they are long-lasting, anti-stick, or water-repellent. And while our specialists provide customers with polymer coatings focused primarily on preventing corrosion or creating non-stick and sliding properties, they also develop innovative solutions for unique problems.
global presence
"What sets us apart is that we match customers’ requests with a certain coating material, combined with our experience and skill in applying the coatings,” says Marcus Wendel, managing director Aalberts surface technologies. “There is no technical standard for fluoropolymers, meaning there is limited literature or scientific studies available, and the majority of companies that specialise in fluoropolymer coatings are relatively young. We’ve managed to create a global network of facilities to apply the coatings, meaning we can serve international machine builders wherever they need us. This is rare in our business, and it is a vital attribute for our global customers.”
strategic strength
Our focus within polymer coatings is on niche applications. This enables us to offer customised coating solutions, meaning we can achieve a higher wear resistance or structure resistance for surfaces, providing them with additional functional. "We don't just apply coatings. Rather, we look for ways to develop new applications by applying different technologies that can be connected with one another,” Marcus says. “For customers, this results in surfaces that are easier to clean, have higher production speeds, and lead to greater efficiency. And it also helps reduce the downtime of production machines, as they require far less maintenance or cleaning."
unique properties
One example is a special nano coating developed for valve seats used by a multinational engineering and technology company. This involved creating a chemical vapour deposition coating, where you have a gas mixture in the chamber. By applying an electric charge, you then create a coating on the product. "We created a glass-like coating on these valves that includes a special forumula that adds non-stick properties," Marcus says. "This stops water from filming on the valves, preventing condensation building up and blocking the valve as they go through extreme temperature changes. This is a unique product, which prevents valve failures and helps save the company time and money in repairs and maintenance.”
