For the headquarters of a public institution in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Aalberts integrated piping systems recently installed a range of systems that contribute to a heating and cooling system that is energy neutral.

"For their new headquarters, National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB), selected our solutions, including press and ball valve technology like the VSH XPress, VSH SudoPress and VSH MultiPress, to ensure seamless sanitation and cooling and heating systems,” says Dennis van Buren, sales director for the Netherlands at Aalberts integrated piping systems. "This building will be home to 2,200 employees from the RIVM and MEB, who are contributing to society during the pandemic. While RIVM focuses on the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are taking care of their sustainable new headquarters in Utrecht. Alongside ensuring that they have a comfortable indoor climate, the designers have also focused on the cooling and heating system, guaranteeing that it has zero CO2 emissions. Our focus is on delivering products that are of the highest specification, and help contribute to the building's sustainability credentials.”

The building, which is located in the Utrecht Science Park, has been awarded the BREEAM outstanding design certificate, an international scheme that provides independent third-party certification of the assessment of the sustainability performance of individual buildings. “We are proud to have contributed to another building that has achieved such a high sustainability rating, and understand that developments which receive a high BREEAM rating often benefit from lower running costs because it’s naturally more energy efficient,” says Dennis.
