Take the ‘change-over’ systems, for example. These provide warmth in winter and cooling in the summer but make use of different source systems. Because water ‘changes’ – it contracts and expands under the influence of temperature fluctuations, and a resulting change in pressure, for example, will affect the filling level of the expansion vessel. At the changeover moment both source systems get into contact with each other and pressure will be equalised so water will flow from the one into the other system. It’s therefore crucial that the heating system side can ‘communicate’ with the cooling system, to prevent them from counteracting each other. In addition, the system must always remain one step ahead of the user by offering a timely prediction of what is about to happen. This makes it possible to service at an opportune moment to prevent them from failing at an inopportune moment.
